The Baloch News (TBN) has approached Amin Zamin Baloch for interview for the ongoing “The Dad Series”. He has been closely associated with Allah Dad Wahid in most of his literary affairs.

Question: How did you first interact with Allah Dad? Or how did you come to work with him?

Amin Zamin Baloch: I already knew him; he was not a stranger to me because of his family background. When I came to teach philosophy at Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat, in the fall of 2015, he was a student there, regularly attending the classes. He had an interest in History. He discussed his interest with me and decided to enroll in Karachi University, where he substantiated his will to be good at history. During his graduation (2016-19), he demonstrated his ability to work on academic subject matters. I found him willing to contribute in Balochi. Gradually, he became a mature companion and devoted his time to fostering the academic expressions in the Balochi language.

Question: What were his dreams and ambitions about Balochi literature? What motivated him to work for Balochi language?

Amin Zamin Baloch: Generally, our ambitions were compatible with extending the academic expression of the Balochi language. Probably, his contributory interests remained a major source of his motivation. His motivation made him a sympathetic personality. His personality was not hierarchical in his sense of education, nor socially blurred. Thus, he worked with almost all young Baloch contributors on only one condition, “to extend the scope of the Balochi language.”

Question: How did he contribute to your work?

Amin Zamin Baloch: Usually, he was interested in knowing historiographical patterns and the theoretical framework for making the Baloch studies comprehensive. We often discussed new ways and possibilities, and their applicability, at least, for promoting an inclusive method of Baloch History. He contributed by proofreading essays and chapters on historiography and theoretical frameworks. He was also involved in article selection for Rájmán.

Question: What distinguished Allah Dad from the other fellow working professionals?

Amin Zamin Baloch: Without any emphasized note on professionalism, as a Baloch contributor, I often observed a prevailing adventurism in the field of producing social literature in Balochi. Dád seemed to me a serious individual who avoided spontaneous improvisation or experimentation regarding material in the Balochi language.

Question: What things or works in Dad do you think best reflect his intellectual depth?

Amin Zamin Baloch: His sympathetic personality and his attitude to avoid adventurism reflect his seriousness towards the Balochi language.

Question: How do you think his assassination affected Balochi literature?

Amin Zamin Baloch: Dád was an energetic individual and had a mature mind. His assassination has some spontaneous repercussions. However, other mature minds are flourishing. Dád was an individual, but his seriousness towards the Balochi language made him an emerging source of contribution.
