Education is mandatory for the development of any society. Whether it is men or women, education is compulsory for everyone. Sadly, women education does not receive more of the concentration in our society which causes solemn backwardness for our nation. Women’s education must be given highest priority for it amounts to prosperity of the nation. Because females are considered as the building block of every nation: their socio-economic rights should be given in the Baloch society for the quicker approach to the era of modernization.

The literacy rate of female education in Balochistan is the lowest where almost 78% of females are away from education. The root cause of such a large number of out-of-education women is the outdated norms of our society to cage women inside the four walls of house. Besides this, the presence of a very less number of educational institutions for females is another obstacle on their way to education. Although the province contributes the highest amount of natural resources, it gets very less in return.

Another key element of lagging of women in the Baloch society is the patriarchal set-up of our people. The men are deemed superior and hence supported financially and morally to getting the best education in the best institutions of the country. But, when it comes to females, a book of excuses is published to cease them from flying.

According to the report of UNICEF Pakistan, Balochistan holds a total number of 14,855 schools in which only 67.4% are for females. From the schools, non-functional schools for women are 25.6%. Only 72.4% of the girls go to schools whereas rest only appear in examinations. It is because the schools picturize a depressing lack of facilities; merely 52.0% schools have toilet facilities and rest are without one even.

To our great misfortune, only in 21.7% schools students avail drinking water facility, whereas rest of the schools are left without water facilities including a deficiency of boundary walls. A provincial education report cites that 7,900 schools in Balochistan have no boundary walls, most of which are of women.

On the other hand, 38.1% schools for women lack sitting desks and mats. The authorities state that they send the funds to the schools, but they never get to schools_ or maybe they get to school administrations’ pockets. The governmental officials rarely have visits to confirm if the funds are reaching to the schools. According to UNICEF, only 39.2% schools are visited by officials, and rest go unnoticed.

Apart from the lack of female educational institutions, they should be precautioned about bad and good touches because they can pass through multiple circumstances. Along with this, they possess the right to participate actively in every walk of life. They are never less than man, nevertheless.

In fact, females possess the credibility to create worth of noble professions by actively taking part in multiple fields. They can even work far better than men to bring greater changes in the system of the province. For this, it requires a great deal of investment on women and their vested rights.

In short, women need the equitable support from the society_ particularly from their families_ to grow well in the society. They do have the potentials which ought to be taken out so that they do not only work for themselves, but also benefit Balochistan in every possible way. Women need nothing, but equal opportunities and respect to stuck tall in the society. Their issues, particularly education-related, must be solved as soon as possible.
