Recently, I came across a post by Pak Dairy which showed that the total number of students appeared in the exams of 2025 in Balochistan board was 148,114 out of which only 68.10 percent of the students qualified. This discouraging feedback highlights the impact of newly deployed cheating prevention strategy and corruption within the educational system.
The students in Balochistan continue to face systemic challenges such as inadequate access to effective education, untrained teachers and scarcity of comprehensive curriculum. In addition, the private schools in the province are tainted sources of business which underperform in the criteria of modern education.
On the other hand, the public sector schools encounter inappropriate maintenance of schools as the teachers themselves don’t follow the code of conduct. In light of this, the implementation of measures like anti-cheating policies in exams would only attain a disappointing result.
In the year 2025, even effective students have scored an average percentage, but it fuels the curiosity of those students who were in the rankings of higher grades. Before the results, on June 6th, the Controller of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) Quetta wrote a letter to the Chairman, with the subject, “Serious concerns regarding unlawful results preparation, exclusion of controller and denial of responsibility”.
She wrote that the legal process of board examinations had been violated. The controller, under whom the conducting of examinations legally falls, has been threatened by saying, “have no role in results matter, hold no authority in results preparations.” She was threatened because the checking of papers was unlawfully carried out in chairman’s office. She further stated, “I, as the Controller of the examinations, hereby declare that I do not own, endorse, or take responsibility for the results being prepared and issued.”
The educational system of the province is corrupted by those who hold power. Moreover, such unjust practices like exam security are only carried under the guise of educational developments while the foundational reason is hidden in the pages of corruption within the system. The concerned authorities should prioritize on improving the quality and accessibility of education among the province rather then installing unproductive ventures in order to facilitate elite students.
