Youth Educational Council (YEC) Nasirabad (Kech) condemns the governmental negligence towards Shahabad Primary School Nasirabad which lacks basic necessities.

The spokesperson of YEC decried the provincial government saying that in the annual budget of 2011-12, former minister Ehsan Shah – who is currently serving as provincial health minister – passed the construction of the school. He added that after the school was built, the school only had – and still has – one teacher and regular students are more than sixty.

The area falls under the constituency of Akbar Askani as per the 2018 general elections. The minister also discussed about facilitating the school in the annual budget, but no progress has been seen in the works, he said.

Shahabad is an area located in Nasirabad (Kech). Students of the region have the only primary school which lacks necessities as classrooms, teachers, boundary walls, proper setup and other equipment, the spokesperson said. He added that their visit was a “confirmation of the facts” and bringing up the grievances of the school before the provincial education department.

He further said that the people in the region are very poor. “They barely get two times of food to eat.” He claimed that education in the region was already in a deteriorating state, such acts would intensify the ratio of out-of-school children in Balochistan.

According to Alif Ailaan’s report, Balochistan’s 5000 primary schools are run by a single teacher. Shahabad Primary School Nasirabad is one among them.
