Every nation has its own traditions and cultures. Some of them possess a well-known name for their unique cultural heritage and diversity. Let it be marriages, dances, fights or even funerals, each nation has something amazing and astonishing.

Similarly, my nation has something more beautiful, attractive and peerless and traditional stuff which is incomparable and is perfect in itself. That is Balochi dresses.

I do not say the rest traditional dresses are ugly or not worth of wearing, but to me, Balochi dresses are made nowhere and are more worthy than the dresses of other cultures. Resultantly, Balochi dresses are worn by different peoples of different cultures globally.

Balochi dresses are hand-made which are made at homes by Baloch females. Moreover, when a Balochi dress is made, first the colour of dress is chosen and soon after it depends upon the creator that which doch (a hand-made design which is made by a collection of threads) she has to put on.

Interestingly, one single Balochi handicraft is worth of thousands of rupees. It also differs from doch to doch, and a complete dress to be made takes months and prices of lacs.

However, this is also true that every dress does not worth such amounts but Makrani handicrafts_ especially of region of Buleda_ are very famous. People from abroad do order such dresses as they are known worldwide.

However, this beautiful art is transferred from generation to generation. Every Baloch girl knows how to embroider a hand-made dress. No matter where she resides, what she speaks, in which society she lives, she somehow surely knows about the creativity of Balochi embroidery.

Apart from this, every Balochi handicraft has a separate name. Whenever one such work is discovered, it is also given a name from the creator. Mostly creators use those names which are very famous in the society and are on everybody’s tongue.

And some also use Baloch poets’ and singers’ names so that their handicrafts may become easily known to everyone. I still remember a work which was named, Arif-e-sare Chadar ( shawl of Arif’s head).

Actually, Arif Baloch is a famous Baloch singer who is listened to everywhere. And to make the embroidery get famous, such names are used. Likewise, keeping recent situations in mind, even a pandemic named handicraft has been made which is Corona Doch.

However, Balochi dresses have some unique qualities too. Like they are matchless, they can be fit to anyone’s body. They have a big and beautiful pocket, which is longer than one foot. It is unbelievable although, like a dress having such big pocket is still beautiful.

This is because it is made so beautifully that instead of looking weird, it looks more attractive and pulchritudinous.

On the other hand, this is also a source of earning for many Baloch women. Many families’ stoves fire due to this amazing work. Whereas, a great many Baloch mothers educate their children by doing embroidery.

To conclude, this beautiful art must be appreciated by government and it should be given utmost importance. This art is even promoted globally, yet the provincial and federal governments have not thought of recognizing it nationally.
