World. We are part of this world. We are part of every bad and good on it. We decide what to do when something is wrong and we decide what it means by good which seems deteriorating in hopelessness. By hopelessness we understand how the world is taking its turn in dirty hands. There is suffering everywhere. Balochistan is a part of this world. It suffers too. Balochistan, for many, is a geographical problem; for many, it is a political problem; for many, it is in secret games. In midst of all these, Balochistan has Baloch. As human, they suffer and humans can’t be separated on the basis of politics. The issues of Baloch, whether that is enforced disappearance, target killing and exploitation, are not recent. Also these problems are weighed in consideration of politics. However, there is so much one says to restrict themselves away from everything that involves the scent of politics. Talking. Speaking. Writing. Building an ideology. Opinions. All these stand on the basis of good and bad. It is always the question of right and wrong. And there are many in middle. People who claim, “I am not political.”
Let us first understand what is meant by their ‘Not Political’. Is it not talking about wrong on their land? Is it not speaking anything about the precise moment in their area? Is it not accepting the oppression and suppression in order to live a privileged and honored life? Their being not political aligns with other factors too such as accepting ‘It happens. It will not end. Why should we dabble out feet into it?’ ‘I am not political’ or ‘No politics’ are statements frequently used in institutions, even propagated by so-called thinkers in such a way as if politics is a poison.
However, to raise for someone, to speak for someone and have an ideology that says the wrong doesn’t need someone to be political, but human. Anyway, as we were on politics, it is no doubt that politics is as old as Homo Sapiens succeeded it into cognitive revolution. Politics is with them since they mastered the craft of storytelling. It became a part of their gossips and behaviors. It merged into human languages. It was communication, politics, literature that made human race survive. And, politics, in one way or other, dwells in human DNA. Therefore, one’s claim of not being political is doubting his being human.
Someone’s claim of not being political will not stop politics decide what he should do and what he should not. No matter how far someone restricts politics from their thoughts, it will survive on each side of their life. Whether that is the food they eat, the clothes they wear, the words they speak, the opinions they accept, and the decision of ‘I am not political’ is all political.
Moreover, it is hard to find out who brought the revolution of separating politics from human life. But it is not impossible to spot who did it so perfect that people label politics a destruction to their personal and mental lives. For a moment to relieve souls, let separate politics from everything. As it is a destruction, when separated, people would buy products from corporations, people would not resist against the system, people would watch anything the authorities make, people would eat whatever they are allowed to get, people would read only what the system loves, people would not question the institutions, people would move when instructed. Now, again the relief is vandalized as in the name of not being political, someone uses politics to limit the political growth of a community or nation. Politics then becomes a tool owned by colonizer, oppressor after individualizing the minority to hate what authorities find threat in future to counter (such as politics).
In conclusion, the phrase ‘I am not political’ seems a deliberate action operated in institutions whether religious or private in the process of individualization by the government. The process splits people in resistance and others who dream for a better life for themselves. The subjects of the state isolate from the initial ones to live peacefully after embracing the dictionary and words of the authorities such as ‘I am not political’. However, it is hard to visualize heaven when living in hell.
