Women empowerment and the patriarchal Baloch society

Women empowerment and the patriarchal Baloch society

Baloch women are included among the most talented and extraordinary women with their golden dreams. Most of the women have dreamt to have freedom and possession over their rights in the given society. They dream to participate in public platforms such as; to be social activists; to be active on social medias; to be vloggers in order to highlight the current situations and issues of Balochistan; to pursue their dreams of influencing changes in the patriarchal Baloch society; and most importantly, to fracture negativity from the minds of others.

Though we all eagerly wish to fulfill our dreams and turn them into reality, but not everyone gets the right time and chance to do that. Dishearteningly, women face a lot of problems in touching their dreame. There are multiple reasons that restrict them to be bound.

The first and foremost problem is the unsupportive parents and family members who are against of women’s freedom. Mostly, the parents, in several corners of Balochistan, especially in rural areas, believe in early marriages of their daughters. According to their perspectives, women are born to own accountabilities of their husbands and they do not need to gain education.

How is it possible for women to be revolutionary? This is a bitter reality that leads majority of Baloch women backward in the field of arts, books, creativity, science, technology, development and even in the world.

Secondly, the biggest worrisome is the patriarchal society. If an educated woman gets independence from her family and parents to fulfill her dreams of independently traveling to other countries, being a social activist, dancer, actress or many more wishes, then the judgmental Baloch society’s men and women both create normal restrictions and criticize her to resist her from being influential and revolutionary through her great works.

We should clearly observe that every citizen and woman of other nations may face a lot of difficulties in her journey of success which are common as hunger, hardships, poverty, health disabilities, financial weaknesses and misfortune in many cases. But to note the fact we Baloch women, along with these problems, need to confront the abuses, useless words, trolls, bullshit thrown by society, judged and even criticized the most. This is all because of emerging negative thoughts in their minds which they need to eradicate as soon as possible.

If women are trying to create changes by participating in every social activity as men participate, why are they grabbed back? Do not they have the same rights as a man has in our society? Are not the women human beings? Do not they breathe like men do?

Eventually, in urban areas most of women are strongly and bravely struggling and confronting all the challenges and working very hard for their unique dreams. They are avoiding the nonsenses and rubbish thrown by society. In a like way, things need to change in all parts of Balochistan for women. They need to be given equal opportunities as men get in the given society.

It is high time for other women to follow their dreams without hesitation and strive for success. Everyone has wishes. It is not that women are happy by being dependent and listening to the abusive words of their male members. The world is changing and we need to make a difference too.
